Big Fattie Tuesday

In homage to the SF Bluegrass and Old Timey Festival this week, Otto will be going all electric with the same cast of folks at the Hotel Utah Saloon this Tuesday, February 16th at 8:00.  This show marks our first time with Elliott on keyboards plus Matt on the Strat.  Otto’s folk sensibilities now awash in organ swells and guitar crunch.

The Moaners will be opening for our friends Wartime Blues from Missoula, Montana.  This Folk Rock Octet is fearlessly putting thousands of miles on an old van and criss crossing the vast Western States in an all out chasing of the American Dream.  (www.myspace.com/wartimeblues)

Chris Jones, from TVMike’s Scarecrowe family, is headlining the night.  (www.myspace.com/chrisjonesmusic)  He was last seen fronting his own acoustic trio after years of face melting in Strangefeather and Ride the Blinds.  The incorrigible Charlie Knote will be in the pocket on drums.

Otto Mobile and the Moaners

Heartaches and Hootenanny’s

For the second year Matt is celebrating Valentine’s with a bunch of lonesome Folkies singing their favorite Heartache Classics backed by an All Star San Francisco Lonely Hearts Club Bluegrass Band including Toby Oler and Ted Silverman.  Matt, AKA Lder, held a solo coin flipping contest to decide on pulling from the catalogues of Doc and Gram.  Becky Levi plays the role of Emmylou.  Further evening enhancement provided by some cool Mendocino Cats – the Blushin’ Roulettes.  Not only is it presented by the San Francisco Folk Music Club, but it is also associated with the San Francisco Bluegrass and Old Thyme Festival 2010.

Moaners in the Haystacks

Word to the Stacks.

Otto is bringing lots of love down to Hayward this Wednesday Feb. 10th from 8-11 at the B St. Bistro.  This version of the Moaners will be some original Chillbillies (Matt, Connor, Toby) from our Bloomington, Indiana days.  Our buddy Emery Barter will be ripping hot licks for tips.

To commemorate and celebrate my return to Hayward after the Teacher Strike of 2007 how about some words from Woody Guthrie:

“I’m gonna tell all you Fascists, you may be surprised,
People all over this world are getting organized,
And you’re bound to lose, You Fascists are bound to lose.
Race hatred cannot stop us, this one thing we know,
Your poll tax and Jim Crow and greed have got to go,
And you’re bound to lose, You Fascists are bound to Lose.”

In Solidarity,

Matt
