Otto and the Moaners:

Ben Fowler – drums - Master control of the game’s tempo.  Has an innate feel for when to fast break and when to set up the half court offense.

Joshee Ellison – bass – Has one of the highest assist to turnover ratios in league history.  Every once in awhile the unassuming flash of brilliance.

JohnnyCakes Lundquist – guitar – Rugged rebounder, Elbow Thrower.  Added some bulk in the offseason which should help his production in the paint.  Slow drives to the rack develop slowly and end gracefully. 

Jayson Payton – guitar/vocals – Great court vision.  Has a good mid-range game and will hit the open 3.  Fearless one-on-one skills. 

Travers – guitar/vocals – Relentless defender and trash talker.  Will get in the opponent’s head.  Known for game changing hustle plays.  Maintains a huge home court advantage.

Lundquist – guitar/vocals/pedal steel – Unstoppable array of post moves.  Will drive  to the rim like an L-Train.  Lost his hops in the last decade, but still has the court wisdom to deliver the goods.

This following week the Coach (Connor) and Lder (Lundquist) are teaming up with fellow Bloomingtonian Ex-Patriots Odawas to rain Hoosier Folkadelia on Austin’s South By Southwest Conference.  The intensity will be turned up to 9 when Connor plugs in his Baritone Guitar in tandem with his Electro StandUp Bass.  Lder will be hunched over his pedal steel trying to lift people out of their brains.

If you think this picture is dark and ghostly just wait til you hear us (www.odawas.net).  Pronounced ‘Odd-uh-wahs’ if you’re from Indiana or ‘Oh-Dow-wuz’ if you’re Bay Area.  Either way it’s the Nietzchean Post Modern Lyricism of Michael Tapscott’s gentle folk ballads about Whales and Jim Jones.  I explain what’s happening in the lyrics because the vocals will be submerged in Reverb soup.  The tunes are blended with some Synthesized Orchestras under the magic baton wand of Isaac Edwards.  These dudes put out several records on Secretly Canadian’s ‘Jagjaguwar’ Label (www.jagjaguwar.com).  Michael Carreira checks our pulse with his original copyrighted brand of drum stylings.

Word to the Stacks.

Otto is bringing lots of love down to Hayward this Wednesday Feb. 10th from 8-11 at the B St. Bistro.  This version of the Moaners will be some original Chillbillies (Matt, Connor, Toby) from our Bloomington, Indiana days.  Our buddy Emery Barter will be ripping hot licks for tips.

To commemorate and celebrate my return to Hayward after the Teacher Strike of 2007 how about some words from Woody Guthrie:
